Reading, Writing, and Mathematics
Washington Academy offers tutoring services, at our learning center or in your home, for the core subjects of Reading, Writing, and Mathematics, the staple subjects of standardized tests like the Standards of Learning (SOL).

While Reading, Writing, and Mathematics might be considered primarily of interest to elementary and middle school students, anyone of any age can gain new insights and knowledge from reviewing these crucial areas, especially since they are the basis for all secondary and advanced learning.

Advanced English, Mathematics, and Science
In addition to the core subjects, Washington Academy also offers test preparation for those preparing to enter a private or magnet middle or high school. We strive to equip students to excel on tests such as the SSAT / ISEE and college entrance exams (ACT and SAT I). We can also help with specific subject placement tests, including the SAT Subject Tests.

Furthermore, we offer assistance to middle and high school students who need help with their homework. High school students in fast-paced, college-level AP and IB courses are often the ones who need the most help because their workload is difficult or their classes are designed for self-study. We provide homework assistance to students enrolled in difficult AP and IB classes such as Chemistry, Physics, and Calculus; we also help them to study for tests at school and to prepare for the AP and IB tests they will be faced with in the spring. In short, if a subject is taught in elementary, middle, or secondary school, then there is a solid chance that Washington Academy can offer supplemental educational assistance.

Study Materials
Students have the opportunity to choose from a variety of study materials. They may bring work from school, or their parents may provide materials on which they believe their children should concentrate. Additionally, we can provide our own specialized materials, including those from internationally reputable publishers. The Washington Academy Programs Development Committee selects these study materials after thorough research and evaluation.

Washington Academy also utilizes a state-of-the-art online learning system provided by an industry innovator in learning development. The high-tech features of our learning centers help the current tech-savvy generation have more fun and interaction while learning. The personal features of our learning centers are always provided by the highly competent and caring personal instructors–whether in one-on-one or small group sessions. When appropriate, we combine both the power of innovative technology and the expertise of our competent personal instructors to help each one of our students most effectively achieve his or her learning goals. However, at other times it is sufficient and appropriate that our students work primarily with our personal instructors, especially for more advanced courses such as AP/IB courses.

We never stop monitoring each learner's progress to evaluate the effectiveness of the resources we utilize. And, as needed, we will make the necessary adjustments to a student's learning program. We always make our students' learning experiences and goals our top priority.
